As much, if not MORE, than some of the die-hard TT.net people who swear by the pulleys. Please re-read what Carlos Ramirez said down there...just see the logic of it. I know for a fact that the pulleys put the wear you guys speak of on the bearings...but it's the degree that is controversial. And to MOST it's worth it because that degree does not seem too steep. If I was building an all out motor, I'd probably leave one off because the cost vs. gain is too much in that circumstance, but 97% of people here are not in that situation :) I've been in both of your situations on an argument...I know how it feels!
